Organizing Gifts for Dad

Best Organizing Tips for Dad, Part 2

It’s almost Father’s Day, so how about some ideas for the best gifts to help the men in your life get organized? I’ve compiled a few of my favorite products that they will love!

New Dad

If you’re a new dad – or if you know someone who is – there is no better gift than a diaper bag that’s all his. Moms usually have those fun fashionable bags (my favorite is the Petunia Pickle Bottom Bag) but a dad needs one to call his own. One that is unfussy but does the job. My top pick: the Skip Hop Signature Messenger Bag. It’s just big enough to hold the essentials, has a padded folding pad for mid-park-playdate diaper changes and can be worn crossbody making your man look like the über-hipster he is!

Adventure Dad

If your guy is a traveling man, these cubes will keep him packing in style! My husband, who spends a lot of time on the road, says packing cubes are the best things since sliced bread: they keep your suitcase organized, you know where to find the item you want, and you know where everything goes. Ditto for the matching toiletry kit. Your man will always be packed, armed and ready for the next adventure. Even better: all Eagle Creek products are 25% off at The Container Store and EagleCreek.com!

Sporty Dad

If your dad is a coach or an active athlete himself, that means he comes with a lot of gear. Sports caddies are great ways to corral balls, bats, helmets, tennis rackets, golf clubs and hockey sticks. And if your dad likes to lead the family on biking adventures, one of easiest way to keep the bikes organized is to have a place to park them. While hanging bikes from the ceiling or wall gives you back your floor space, my suggestion is a simple bike rack. It gives you a dedicated place to park your bikes and is a more user-friendly solution for the entire family.

It’s All About Business Dad

For the businessman, keeping your possessions together and charged is the key to success. Every man should have a “landing pad” for items to come off wrists and out of pockets at the end of the day. This landing pad then becomes the “launch pad” for the beginning of the next day.

One simple option is a valet tray that can sit on a hallway table, desk or nightstand. And to charge your devices, an attractive docking station can do the job.

Driving Dad

For the man about town, having an organized car makes life much more pleasant. Cup organizers corral small items like a smartphone or sunglasses, while car seat organizers can hold drinks, electronics, tissue or umbrellas. For heavier lifting (or corralling), trunk organizers come in a variety of all shapes and sizes to hold auto accessories like jumper cables, emergency essentials, sports gear or groceries.

And when he is ready to call it a day and come home, a laser-guided parking aid will help him park his car in exactly the right spot. My husband swears by ours!

Handy Dad

If your dad is a handyman or works in the yard, he needs the proper organizing systems at his disposal. A tool rack is a great solution to hang brooms, rakes and shovels and get them off the floor. A storage chest provides efficient vertical storage for handyman supplies: ours holds a variety of glues in the top drawer, an assortment of tape in the second; and tape measures and tools in the third and fourth. Finally, a battery organizer will keep your man charged and ready for any device he receives!

I hope this review of organizing products inspires you to think outside the box on what to give those special men in your life on Father’s Day. While the result of any organizing project is greater efficiency with less effort, another outcome is having more time to do what you want, and with the people with whom you want to spend it.

Organizing is truly a gift that keeps on giving!

We can all use one of those! This device actually gives you a signal when it’s time to stop — either before hitting things in front of your car or knowing when you’ve pulled in far enough to close the door — when parking your car in the garage. My husband swears by it!
