MEET THE TEAM

Packing for a trip. Planning outfits for a busy workweek. Swapping out a seasonal wardrobe.

These everyday tasks become much easier when you can see everything you own in one place. That is where a digital wardrobe app comes in.

A digital wardrobe app creates a visual catalog of your clothing, shoes, handbags, and accessories, making it easier to plan outfits, build packing lists, and make more thoughtful shopping decisions. It can also help you rediscover forgotten favorites, identify gaps in your wardrobe, and avoid buying pieces you already own.

We have spent the past year exploring several digital wardrobe apps with both clients and our own wardrobes. Each one offers something a little different, but they all have one thing in common. They make it easier to get more use and more enjoyment from the wardrobe you already own.

Here are the three we recommend.

Indyx

Our Favorite Overall

Indyx stands out for its clean, editorial interface. It is the sleekest of the apps we explored and makes browsing your own wardrobe feel surprisingly enjoyable.

In addition to cataloging clothing, shoes, handbags, and accessories, Indyx automatically removes photo backgrounds for a polished, consistent look. You can build outfits, plan what to wear throughout the week, organize looks for upcoming trips, create packing lists, and track how often individual pieces are worn.

One feature we especially love is the ability to assign a location to every item. Whether your wardrobe spans multiple closets, seasonal storage, or even different homes, you always know exactly where to find a particular piece.

The app also offers optional professional styling services if you are looking for additional guidance.

If design matters to you and you want an app that is intuitive, beautifully designed, and enjoyable to use, Indyx is our favorite overall.

Best for: Busy professionals, frequent travelers, outfit planning, and anyone with clothing stored in multiple locations.

“As an organizer and stylist, I often help clients edit their closets. They ask questions like, ‘Is this still in style?’ ‘Does this silhouette work for me?’ or ‘Is this the right color?’ Having an app like Indyx, where everything is organized in one place, makes the editing process much easier. Instead of pulling every piece out of the closet, we can review an entire wardrobe together and make thoughtful decisions.”

Acloset

Best for AI Styling

Acloset is a great option for anyone looking for fresh outfit ideas from pieces they already own.

Its AI styling tools suggest outfit combinations you may not have considered, making it especially helpful when your wardrobe starts to feel repetitive. We were also impressed by how well the app prepares your wardrobe for cataloging. It automatically removes photo backgrounds, smooths wrinkles, and enhances each garment, giving your digital wardrobe a polished, editorial look.

The AI also does an excellent job identifying clothing categories, colors, and materials, which makes building your digital wardrobe much faster than entering everything manually.

We found Acloset particularly useful for rediscovering overlooked pieces and experimenting with new outfit combinations without buying anything new.

Best for: AI outfit suggestions, everyday inspiration, and quickly building a beautifully organized digital wardrobe.

Stylebook

The Original Classic

Stylebook has been a favorite among stylists and wardrobe enthusiasts for years, and it is easy to see why.

One of the original digital wardrobe apps, Stylebook remains a thoughtfully designed and incredibly detailed tool. It offers outfit planning, packing lists, wardrobe statistics, wish lists, and a calendar for tracking what you have worn over time.

Unlike many newer apps, Stylebook is available as an inexpensive one-time purchase rather than a recurring subscription, making it an excellent value.

While Stylebook takes a more traditional approach than some newer apps, it is dependable, incredibly detailed, and packed with thoughtful features. Sometimes the classics become classics for a reason.

Best for: Detailed wardrobe tracking, packing, budget-conscious shoppers, and anyone who prefers a one-time purchase.

A Smarter Way to Shop

One unexpected benefit of using these apps is that we found ourselves opening them before shopping.

At Cary Prince Organizing, we have a simple philosophy: The best piece wins. If you are considering something new but do not love it more than something you already own, it is probably not the right purchase.

Seeing your wardrobe in one place makes it easier to recognize what is truly missing and, just as importantly, what is not. It encourages more thoughtful shopping, helps prevent duplicate purchases, and reminds you of the beautiful pieces already hanging in your closet.

Sometimes the best addition to your wardrobe is not something new. It is rediscovering something you already own.

Is a Digital Wardrobe Worth It?

We think so.

Like many organizing projects, the biggest investment is the initial setup. Photographing and cataloging your wardrobe takes some time, although newer apps have made the process faster with automatic background removal and clothing recognition.

Once your wardrobe is uploaded, maintaining it is relatively simple. The payoff comes every time you get dressed, pack for a trip, plan for an event, or decide whether something new deserves a place in your closet.

A digital wardrobe will not replace a beautifully organized physical closet, but it can make that closet much easier to use.

Bringing Your Wardrobe to Life

Whether you choose Indyx, Acloset, or Stylebook, the best app is the one you will actually use. The goal is not to spend more time on your phone. It is to spend less time wondering what to wear.

If getting started feels overwhelming, we would be happy to help.

As part of our organizing services, we can photograph and catalog your clothing, shoes, handbags, and accessories, then upload everything into the app that best fits your lifestyle. We will create a beautifully organized digital wardrobe that is easy to maintain and even easier to use.

Our team also includes an in-house stylist who can help edit and refine your wardrobe while we organize and beautify your closet. It’s a thoughtful add-on service that combines expert organizing with personalized styling, helping you make the most of the pieces you already own.

The result is a wardrobe that works just as beautifully on your phone as it does in your home, making it easier to get dressed, pack for a trip, and enjoy the pieces you already own.
